BulletTravel to Milos, Greece

Milos is a volcanic island in Aegean Sea and is the southwestern most island in the Cyclades group, located at 120 km (75 miles) east from the coast of Laconia. From east to west the island measures about 23 km (14 mi), from north to south 13 km. Its greater portion is rugged and hilly, culminating in Mount Profitis Elias 748 m (2454 ft) in the west. Like the rest of the cluster, the island has volcanic origin, with tuff and obsidian among its ordinary rocks. The natural harbor, with a depth diminishing from 70 to 30 fathoms (130 to 55 m) strikes in from the northwest; it cuts the island into two fairly equal portions, with an isthmus not more than 18 km (11 miles) broad. On the both sides are a few good vacation resorts which offer great accommodations in all-inclusive hotels and villas for rent.
Travelers will find on Milos many caves and on the eastern shore of the harbor they will find a few hot springs, which are great attractions for all vacationers.

Antimelos or Antimilos, 13 miles (20 km) northwest from Milos, is an uninhabited rock, often called "Desert Milos". Kimolos or Argentiera, 1.6 km (1 mile) to the northeast, was famous in antiquity for its figs and fuller's earth; there was a big city, the remains of which cover now the cliff of St. Andrew's. One of the main harbors & vacation resorts on island is Adamas, place where can be found a few all-inclusive hotels and villas for rent. From this point you can climb to the plateau located above the harbor, on which are situated Plaka, Kastro, and a few other villages. The ancient town of Melos was located near the entrance of harbor and occupied the slope between Tripiti and Klima.
