Greek SunParos Holidays Greece

Paros, one of the Greek islands in Aegean Sea, is part of the group of Cyclades and also a top vacation spot in Greece. It lies in the western part of Naxos, from which is separated by a channel about 8 kilometers (5 miles) wide, both of this islands being named Paronaxia. Paros, like all main tourist spots in Greece, has a few well developed vacation resorts dotted with hotels settled on the beach, apartments, homes, and luxury villas for rent.
This island is formed from a single mountain about 800 meters (2500 feet) high, sloping evenly down on all sides to a maritime plain, which is broadest on the northeastern and southwestern sides. The capital, named Paroikia or Parikia, is situated on a bay on the northwestern end and occupies the original site of the ancient capital of Paros. In the harbor can sail just small ships & yachts because the entrance is very dangerous due to the rocks.

Apartments, villas and homes built in Italian style, with terraced roofs, shaded by luxuriant plants, and surrounded by gardens of oranges and pomegranates give to the capital town a very picturesque aspect. Tourists find there remains of a medieval castle built almost entirely from ancient marble vestiges. The traces of antiquity are very numerous in the town. In the main square in Parikia is located the island's main church - Ekatontapiliani, that is also one of the main tourist attractions. Its oldest structures almost certainly antedate the official Roman adoption of Christianity! Some experts believe that the church was founded by mother of emperor Constantine, Saint Helen, during her pilgrimage to the Holy Land. The church has two adjoining chapels and a baptistery.
On the northern side of the island is located the bay Naoussa or Agoussa, that hosts a safe harbor. A another good harbor is Drios, on the southeastern side. Villages of Tragoulas, Marmora, and Kepidi, situated on the eastern side of the island, probably occupy the site of an ancient town. They are known together as the "villages of Kephalos", from the steep headland of Kephalos. On this headland stands the abandoned monastery of St. Anthony, near the ruins of a medieval castle, that belonged to the Venetian family Venieri.
In the main vacation resorts of the island can be spent really relaxing holidays in Greece. The top tourist spots in Paros feature a few really good luxury hotels, apartments, rental properties, and villas that offer accommodation at affordable rates and plenty of facilities. On the island tourists find modern restaurants along with picturesque taverns, all offering specific Greek dishes. Naxos is also a paradise for the beach activity fans because they can exercise there parasailing, water-skiing, jet-skiing, snorkeling, scuba diving, swimming, sailing, and others.
