Kefalonia Holidays Greece
Kefalonia is the largest of the Greek islands in the Ionian Sea, in the western part of the country. It is named after the mythological figure Cephalus, although some experts believe that its name literally means "an island with a head", referring to the island's shape.
The capital city of prefecture of Kefalonia is Argostoli, also home to 30% of the habitants, and Lixouri is the second major city. This are the main vacation spots for spending beach holidays in Kefalonia, there being settled the majorhotels and most rental properties.

Apart from other Greek islands, Kefalonia is covered by dense vegetation and offers stunningly natural beauty including long beaches (many of them inaccessible from land) and spectacular caves. On the island are five harbors and ports from where are ferry connections to islands of Patras and Ithaca. Port of Poros, in the southern end, has also ferry routes to Kyllini. Argostoli, in the western part, is the largest port and connect the island to Zante and Lixouri. Vasiliki, in north, has links to Lefkas and Ithaca. Lixouri is situated at 4 kilometers distance to Argostoli, across the bay, on the Lixori peninsula. From there starts a road that binds different spots of the island.
Whit a few vacation resorts dotted with hotels rental properties, island of Kefalonia attracts tourists with convenient holiday deals. It has an airport, located about 10 kilometers south to Argostoli, so vacationers can take easy trips to this great tourist spot in Greece. The planes fly mainly to the capital city of Athens, but in summer there are landing many charter flights of travel agencies from the entire Europe.
A large number of people spend holidays in Kefalonia in season because it is one of the largest Greek islands and has a few very good vacation spots. Numerous tourists choose to stay in or around Lassi, a resort settled at several kilometers distance to Argostoli.
