Ios Holidays Greece
Ios belongs to the Greek islands of Cyclades group from Aegean Sea and is one of the great holiday spots in Greece due to the many gorgeous beaches and luxury hotels settled in exquisite vacation resorts.
Port of Ios is located at entrance of the Ormos harbor, in the northwestern part of the island. From there a short bus ride or a 20 minute walk takes tourists to the main village called Chora or Hora. This is a very picturesque village with white spoiled buildings, full of stairs and narrow walks that make it inaccessible for cars of any kind! The main occupation on the island is tourism, so there can be spent excellent beach holidays in well developed resorts dotted with hotels, restaurants, shops, bars, taverns, and discotheque. Beside village of Chora, Ios has a few other small settlements, usually a group of homes that offer accommodation in the background of major beaches in Ios like Milopotamos, Theodoti, Kalamos, and Manganari.

The legend say that Homer's mother was from Ios and he was buried there - today the inhabitants show to vacationers the ruins of the ancient town of Plakotos, at the northernmost end of the island, where can be seen a rocky entrance to a tomb. Still, on the island is no physical evidence connecting it with Homer...
On Ios are numerous archaeological attractions. On the northern shore is a ruined Venetian castle from the 15 century and even if the island is very small, there are 365 churches and chapels, so that tourists could visit a different church in each day of the year...
